Current projects for Lady Gigglemug

I have been working on a few items, for Lady Gigglemug, which is my friends and my Etsy shop. Right now we're having a vacation from the shop, but I felt like making something for the shop. My plan is to also make some more Autumn-inspired stuff, since I can't wait for Autumn and since it would be nice to sell in the coming months.

The first thing I've been working on is actually on hold for a friend on Instagram, since she saw it in Lady Gigglemug's insta-story. So it won't come up on the shop, but it was meant to be on the shop... so I'm gonna show them anyway.
They're a pair of antique bloomers that I have upcycled. On the butt of these bloomers there's this big pocket with a doily and a vintage button I have from my small button-collection. I have on each leg added some more fabric that matches the pocket. On the front there's some lovely half, doilys and a patch with a print of a spoon. I draw the spoon myself and printed it on some light pink fabric, back when I was going on a design-school. I really love the look of it.

The spoon is actually a drawing I made of one of my own antique spoons. I have a small spoon-collection, hehe.

Then I once promised to make some jabots for Lady Gigglemug, but never got started. Woops, but I think jabots are beautiful and great accessories in the Autumn/Winter time. I am deffinitely going to make more.
This one is with layers in different colours and textures. I really like this one and it's colours so much!! It reminds me of the countryside somehow, hehe. The spoon is antique by the way. Some of the fabric/lace is old or thrifted and there's a doily added here aswell.

The last thing I've made was going to be a jabot, but it got too high on the collar. But I really loved the colours I used and the different textures. There's some velvet, a beautiful, golden flower-ribbon, two kinds of lace, a lace bow with a red pearl and it's all sewn on to a piece of felt. I think it's so cute, hehe.

Now for something else than projects for Lady Gigglemug. My boyfriend and I went to the city to look at engagement rings and I think I found the right one! But I will have to take a look around on the internet and in some of the other antique shops in Odense. Anyway, afterwards we went to a art supply shop and the lady in there thinks I'm so beautiful, haha. She said it was like I had walked out of a scrapbook.
I was wearing the clothes on the pictures beneath. I also made some art to put in a small frame. I used aquarelle colours, a pencil and a black pen.

'Little Lady Foxglove'

Now I feel very proud that I have been making some things for the shop and for myself. Especially because I am in a very bad mood currently. I feel so stressed and sad. I listen to a lot of music, to kinda get away from things. And now I have been listening to Loreena McKennitt for hours!! But I find her music so relaxing and beautiful.

Besides music I have also been watching a lot of movies. I actually watched 'Dracula' from 1992 for the first time in my life... which is ind of embarrasing since I really am a vampire-fan. I liked it a lot and even though it was a bit serious, I still laughed a few times.
Then I saw 'The vvitch'. I read a lot of different opinions on this one. But I really liked it! I love the look and atmosphere the movie has.

What do you like to do when feeling down?
I hope you all are feeling better than I am and if you want to, please recommend some movies to watch.

Letters for my lovely penpals

I decided to make some letters for my penpals Anne Ophelia and Esther. I really enjoy writing them and finding the perfect things to send. Having penpals is such s cosy thing, even though I'm not the fastest to answer on the letters I get, hehe. My latest letter was from Anne Ophelia and that was the first letter ever, with her as a penpal. She send me some tea, which smells delicious. I still have to taste them, but I got so much tea from a lot of different places and persons. But I feel very honoured to know a lot of beautiful people from the internet and they're from all over the world. I think it's so exiting to get in touch with amazing and interesting beings from different countrys. It's amazing!

Anyway, here's the letters I made:

In Anne Ophelias letter I, beside the handwritten letter, added a few things. I bought some pretty postcards a while ago from The Floral Fox art and on that I wrote a few facts about myself, since we don't know eachother that well yet. The postcard with the lady is one I bought in a thriftstore and I though she reminded me a bit of Anne. Then I also made a small bag of one of my favorite tea, which is a Rooibos Rhubarb tea. I closed the letter with a wax seal and made it look pretty with stamps and stickers.

For Esther

For Esther I wrote a letter and put it in the envelope together with another beautiful postcard from The Floral Fox art and with some handmade stickers with my own artwork. These stickers will be sold one day, together with an art print. Anyway I also send some caramel tea that smells delicious! I still haven't heard from her, but I hope she liked my letter.

Beside beautiful letters and wonderful people, I am also working on a few items for Lady Gigglemug that will be sold after out vacation. Currently it's a pair of antique bloomers that I'm upcycling. They're so cute!
I listen to a lot of lovely music while working and yesterday I just wanted to hear some classical music. But the only record I got with that is Vivaldi, the four seasons. I need to change that, haha.

Last but not least I want to share with you that can't wait for it to be Autumn!!!!!! I love Autumn and I'm actually a bit tired of Summer now. My least favorite season is Summer and my favorites are Spring and Autumn. I need golden leafs, fresh air, hot drinks and layered outfits,
I just can't wait!

What do you feel about Summer? And what are your favorite season(s)?

Some self portraits and in search for inspiration

I took a few self portraits today, in my "new" upcycled doily dress.
Yesterday I woke up, because someone was knocking on our door. I was too tired to wake up and open the door, so I turned around and fell asleep again. Later, same day, I could see out of the window, that something stood in front of our door. My love went out to see what it was... It was this amazing, old and red velvet chair, with huge tassels! We took it inside, but didn't knew if it was for us or what? But then my boyfriend's stepfather called us and it turned out to be a gift from him and my boyrfriend's mother. It's very beautiful and perfect for my vanity table from 1919... and it's a perfect cello-chair, hehe.

I then decided to take some photos, with the chair. I just took some old bed sheets and hang up in front of our closet and another one in the same colour, which I put on the floor. I like the red and the green colour together.

I also finished a skirt that I made from the bottom. I really like it and I think I'll make more of my skirts look a bit more "bustle"-like. It's hard to see on the photos, but it's longer on the back than in the front. It is dark grey, but has burned orange pinstripes. It's some heavy fabric that I bought in a thrift shop for cheap!

I feel like I want to evolve my style, since I'm a bit locked in it. I would love to add more layers and textures, but I find it hard to do. Do you have any advice? What are your favorite textures to mix?
I really want to look like "a messy victorian", as I like to call it. I am very inspired by the victorian lower class and music/musicians such as Melora Creager from Rasputina and Unwoman. Do you have any fun ideas for outfits and inspiration? Perhaps you know some movies to watch or blogs to follow?

Anyway- I love the feeling when something is finished... I am very bad at finishing things, but I'll get better at it. Hopefully, haha.

Upcycling: Doily dress

I've been wanting to practise my upcycle-skills lately. I really love going thrifting and to buy other people's old clothing, but I haven't felt good enough to upcycle those things I have in my wardrobe... But then I bought a few pieces for very cheap, to upcycle and I decided to try out with this dress.

I shortened the straps, fixed a few holes and added four of my old doilys plus two buttons. The big doily is also a pocket. I really love how much it does to add a few things, on a simple piece like this dress. I have another old dress that has a lot of spots on it. I will see if I can hide them with some velvet fabric and perhaps some doilys as well, since I have so many of them.

I also have a pair of bloomers that's too small for me. I will upcycle them and put them for sale on me and my friend's Etsy-shop, Lady Gigglemug. That will be my first upcycled product for sale, but diffenitely not my last!

I love how easy it is to make clothing look a bit more unique and personal, by adding a few extra things that you like. It's much more easy to do than sewing things from the buttom. I rarely finish my sewing projects and I have so many of them...

Have you tried upcycling some of your thrifted clothes? What did you think about it?
Please share your experience and perhaps a few tips and tricks.

4 favorites from June month ☼

Here's a few favorites from June. I can't come up with more than these, but I'm sure there's a lot more.

Style inspiration: Helena Bonham Carter
Pictures from Pinterest
This month I realized how awesome Helena Bonham Carter's personal style is. I find it very inspiring and have got a few ideas for some creative projects and my own style, because of her.

Music:
'Let no man steal your thyme' - 'Far from the madding crowd' soundtrack

I heard this song for the first time in an instagram-video and I really liked it. Since then it has been on my mind and I have listened to it a lot.

Activity: Being with people I love
This month haven't been that active, but I got to see a dear friend of mine, who I haven't seen for a
long time. I also went to visit my parents at my childhood home. And me and my love went to the Zoo here in Odense.

Activity: Watching live videos

I love watching live videos with all of my favorite artists!

Outfit: My heart is like an open flower

So I cut my hair short a few days ago and I'm actually quite happy about it. Even though sunday and monday I got a bit sad about it... but hey- it will grow long again and today I discovered that I'm able to make a lovely hairstyle out of it anyway.
Today I want to share my outfit with you... so here we go:

I made a lovely updo and clipped in a hairflower I made myself. The earrings, which you can't see that well, are from a Danish shop called Fairytailor. She makes beautiful jewelry and other stuff. The choker is just a satin ribbon I found in the drawer. I also really like this lipstick, but unfortunatly I don't have much of it left.

Now for the clothing. My lace top is bought in a thriftshop, but it's from a lovely brand called Cream. They make a lot of lace and frilly garments. I can really recommend the brand, but it's a bit expensive from new. I do find a lot from Cream in Danish thrift stores though. My skirt is homemade by me. I bought the fabric in a charity shop and I'm going to sew another one soon in other colours. I really like it!! It suits my body well. Unfortunatly I've sewn it with a bad thread, so I have to oversew it with a stronger thread soon. I got inspiration from a Punkrave-skirt by the way, so the design isn't that original, hehe.

Last: I want to share a small song I just discovered... I really like it!

What do you think about my outfit? Do you want to see more of these kind of posts?
And do you like sewing?

Currently in my life

I have some happy news! My dear love proposed to me last sunday and I of course said yes. So now we're engaged, yay. I got to choose the ring myself and I am looking for something old, since that is something I really like, tehe. Let's celebrate by sharing a photo of him and me.

Also I went to the thrift store to find some summertops, but ended up buying this amazing green couch, that matches my other antique green couch. Yesterday my parents helped me moving our old couch and getting this one. I also bought a beautiful vanity table, from the year 1919 for a very cheap price. It is very big and pretty and I can't wait to sit in front of it, putting on makeup.

I'm feeling kind of well lately. A bit stressed (As always) but I'm getting better at doing things that makes me relax. I met up with Sarafina this week and we got to do some practical stuff. I am, as mentioned, working on some prints to sell on our Etsy store. Unfortunatly I'm not too happy about the way the prints worked out, so I might have to try another print-shop. I also made some stickers and I need to edit an aquarelle before I'm putting it up for sale. But I can't wait to share my art with you. Sarafina sells some pretty stationery that I think you should go check out!

I really want to get better at upcycling clothes and accessories, because I find it hard to sew and finish projects, which I've been making from the bottom. I also got in contact with a lady who sells old bloomers, petticoats and such. She's going to sell me some, later this summer and I can't wait to see, what she has in her collection. I hope there's something beautiful in my size. If there's something "cheaper" I'll try to upcycle some of it.

Lastly I want to share a "new look" I tried last week. I really like the hairstyle even though my head looks so round. But that's okay. I felt good and like I could be in a Jane Eyre-movie. The music is from the 'Pride and prejudice' soundtrack which I love! I haven't seen the series or the movie though. Perhaps I should soon.

What is happening in your lifes currently?
I hope you'll have a nice summer and that you feel both inspired and happy!

A magical trip to the forest nearby

Yesterday me and my lovely friend Sarafina aka. Skovlyste, went to the forest nearby to have a little photoshoot. I really need to practise my photo-skills and I love how my friends want to help.
The forest was so green and beautiful. We saw a lot of pretty things such as a deer and giant bumble bees! Unfortunatly I didn't get any pictures of them, since the deer ran away as soon as I took my camera up. But it was a pretty sight to see it there, relaxing in the grass. We decided to check out the deer's spot and it turned out to be a good spot for some of the photos. We also had a nice cup of tea on a tree stump (I think they're called that?). It was truly a magical time and I felt relaxed for the first time in weeks! Being in nature really can take all of my troubles away for a moment and I love that.

Now for the photos...

I think we managed to get some lovely photos out of it.
Where is your favorite place to be?

"To thine own self be true"

"To thine own self be true."
- W. Shakespeare

I thought I'd make a post about a huge change in my style.

Once I only wore black.
I didn't like colours at all and I thought I didn't know, how to use colours in both my style and in my artwork. But I guess it was more because I was "scared" of trying something new.
Now everything has changed. My wardrobe isn't as black as it once were. I wear a lot of light colours and I think it's so funny to work with, when creating new outfits. Actually I'm mostly going for either white or light colours, when I am thrifting.

I think one thing that really inspired me to change my wardrobe, and wear what I find beautiful, was to meet others who has the same taste as me... and even in the city I live in! I often felt very alone with my aesthetic, but then one day I met Skovlyste for a cup of tea. I think finding others like me, really has made me braver. It really helps to be more than one, when you want to start dressing differently. And now I feel brave enough, to wear what I want.

I still struggle with a lot, but I feel like I'm getting closer to who I am.
Anyway- I just wanted to share, that I have finally found out how important it is to do things that makes you happy, and not everyone else.

Everyday life

Last weekend my love and I went to an Iron age/viking fair nearby, in a Iron age village that lies in beautiful surroundings. I didn't buy anything, even though I saw lots of beautiful stuff. There were also a show with big birds such as an owl and a falcon and also a show with vikings that fought.

My love and I went down to the river and relaxed in the grass.

It was very hot and sunny.

We also sat in my love's parent's camp, with their two dogs.

I have made another Instagram-account for my creative projects, in hope of getting started on some more projects! Link to the instagram Lady Elflock Art here.
My friend Skovlyste and I are gonna sell some art-prints and stickers very soon on our Etsy-shop Lady Gigglemug, so stay tuned..!
We also went to a choir-concert in one of the many churches here in Odense. It was very beautiful, I really like the first song they sang. Hmm, perhaps I'm going to listen to it on youtube later... If I can find it.

Lately I have been listening a lot to Priscilla Hernandez and I really like it. I think I'm gonna buy one of her albums soon... I love collecting music and support small artists.

Inspiration in spring

Today is a rainy, cold and grey day. I am feeling inspired anyway though and I hope this evening will bring me some time for being creative. I have a hard time finishing my projects, so I hope to use the next couple of days/weeks to finish some of them. Spring is very inspiring, both because it's one of my two favorite seasons, but also because my wardrobe is changing from something warm and cosy, to something more light and flowy. Everything is so beautiful. The green colours, the pretty flowers in lots of different shapes and the long evenings where it gets darker very late.
Even though today is cold, I still feel the beauty from spring.

Now talking about projects- I really want to bake some more. Last month I made a banana bread, which was delicious. But I've tried that many times before and I would love to try something new. Perhaps some more cakes with lavender? I really like blueberry/lavender cupcakes... yummy!

What else inspires me? Well, I really love getting inspiration from the 1800's "lower class"-people, as weird as it may sound, which was why I decided to finally watch the movie 'Les misérables'. I enjoyed it very much. Do you know any movies with the same "lower class"-style? I really like characters such as Brona Croft from 'Penny Dreadful', Mrs Lovett from 'Sweeney Todd' and Gloriana from 'Salem'. All some lovely dressed women, tehe.

When it comes to my own style I hope to evolve my wardrobe. I am getting more and more beware of what style I want, but somethimes I get confused... I'll have to work on that confusion. I have been considering cutting my hair before summer, but truth is I want it to be longer than now. And I can always make some pretty hair up-dos, yay.

Earlier today I went to my cello-class. I really feel like I learn something from my teacher and I hope to soon show you more of my cello-practising. I'm currently trying to play whatever my teacher gives me as homework, but also the song 'Green finch and linnet bird' from Sweeney Todd. I really adore that song and I'm trying to learn it myself... which means no one to help, tehe.

What inspires you currently?
